Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Museum (see Vollis Simpson, Wikipedia)

Simpson specialized in large kinetic sculptures called "whirligigs", which Simpson made from salvaged metal.

The park is in Wilson, NC.

These photos are inside the museum, which is mostly a gift shop.

The photo on the left is what the star looks like in daylight.  On the right, with flash, a nighttime view is simulated.  This gives a sample of what the whirligigs outside in the park look like at night.

This "whirligig" is an original.  A replica is displayed outside in the park.

More Whirlgigs

This is the replica of the original whirligig.

We visited the Rummage Warehouse in Wilson.  It's several adjoined warehouses filled with everything - mostly from estates.  Furniture, records, books, glassware, clothes, luggage, artwork, etc., etc., etc.  There's also a large section of Christmas decorations.

I found a chair for my dining room.  Luckily, since I was driving home, I had room to bring it.  Yes, another project.
