Grandma's Chairs

These chairs were a gift to Grandma Huntington's parents for their wedding May 4, 1886. They've been painted a number of times. I started stripping one of the chairs years ago, planning on refinishing it with a nice stain. However, I found that the wood on the various parts doesn't really match. The chairs were probably intended to be painted.

This chair was a platform rocker in Grandma's living room.  Over the years the upholstery rotted and fell apart.  I took it apart thinking I would re-upholster it.  HaHa.  I don't have that skill.  So I'm stripping the wood and will refinish it.  Then it will go to a professional for the upholstery.
